Submissions
Proposals for magazine content and books are welcome, and will be considered between August and January. Please review the organization’s mission and focus prior to submission of a proposal. Inquires may be directed to editor Liz Winston at elizabeth@provincetownarts.org.
Provincetown Arts is always seeking writers to create original articles for the magazine that are focused on artists and writers connected to the Cape, including book reviews and excerpts and scholarly articles. Some experience with magazine journalism and art writing is ideal, but not required. Submit proposals (unsolicited article manuscripts may be considered, but proposals are preferable).
Poetry for the magazine is selected by each issue’s guest editor. Unsolicited work will be considered; please send up to three poems per the guidelines below.
Submissions to our new fiction prize will be accepted from August 1 – January 1 per the guidelines below. Manuscripts of up to 20,000 words will be read by a jury panel, and one annual winner will be selected by a guest judge. Please check the website in July for additional guidelines.
MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
Please send your manuscript via e-mail as a Word attachment (no *pdf files please). Please be sure to include: TITLE, and SUBTITLE (if any) and SHORT BIOGRAPHICAL PARAGRAPH. For questions regarding editorial style in manuscript preparation, please refer to The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition.
PHOTOGRAPHS (if accepted)
Please supply images for use with the article. For electronic images, it is best to send the image as it comes from the camera with no manipulation. The minimum size is 300 dpi at 4 x 5 inches. It is also fine to send prints when electronic images are not available. Prints of photographs will be returned as soon as possible after publication of the magazine.
